So I live in the middle of several TV Markets (Charlottesville, Roanoke, Richmond, VA) I’m looking at this antenna hoping to be able to receive more channels. It is this one http://cgi.ebay.com/AMPLIFIED-HDTV-ANTENNA-REMOTE-CONTROLLED-100-MILE-RANGE-/150456615990?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2307e9c436 I was wondering if anyone has bought it and were they or weren’t they satisfied, either way why? Also I believe this antenna does not come with a mount, I was wondering how you mounted it (tripod mount, mast, mast size, etc) All help is welcome!
Dalton, it’s hard to say but if it really has a motorized rotor as it says, it certainly seems like a great deal. And trust me, you will need the rotor to get it positioned exactly where it needs to be pointed. If all the stations are roughly in the same direction from your location, once you get it set, say maybe at a “sweet” spot somewhere in the middle that will pick up all the stations you want, and you’re lucky, you can just leave it in that position. Here’s the unique thing I’ve found since installing my antenna for digital broadcasts: There are trees higher than my antenna between it and the station tower’s. The sweet spot changes in the fall when the leaves fall off the trees. And when the wind blows, some stations go intermittent. Obviously my sweet spot is relying on reflected signals. My whole point is: Rotor is good and mount the antenna as high as you can get it. About a 10 degree upward angle (toward the sky) may help too.
