Are there any hams out there?
My husband enjoyed the hobby as a child with his grandfather back when they had to learn the code Morse. He earned his license at age 12. Now that he's getting back to what I was explaining about the ringing personal. Can someone explain why the number prefixes for each region does not seem logical? Start with # 1 in Maine and down the east coast, then Western swing (Ca is # 6) to 7 goes to the East to Utah, but then the region 8 is back for the Great Lakes and 9 and 0 head back west. Looking at the map that you can not understand. Do you? Only a ham understand what I mean. Please do not be rude, people.
I was in ham radio for a long time, and forget that most part of it. In Australia, the hams of VK3 VK4 NSW, Vic VK3, Queensland, and so on. -. .-.. .-.. / .-. .. -.-. -.- / .. / .–. .- … … / — -. / – -.– / .-.. — …-. / – — / -… — – …. / — ..-. / -.– — ..- /. … / -.– — ..- .-. / ..-. .- – .. .-.. -.– .-.-.- .–. .-. .- .. … . / .—. …. — .- …- …. –. .- .- .–. .

I havent seen a single link to where that would be at in my town? any one know of where one can take that particular test(technicition license i think)
Hi Rob,
Start here, search by zip code or state;
http://www.arrl.org/find-an-amateur-radio-license-exam-session
If that doesn’t produce anything then look for local clubs. They will help you in finding a testing location.
http://www.arrl.org/find-a-club
I didn’t see any testing locations via zip 98531 but there were two clubs.
http://www.cvars.org/
and
http://olyham.org/
Both appear to do testing. Study hard and good luck.

How can Radio Shack to stay in business today?
30 years ago, my parents were as children, used Radio Shack, selling all kinds of electronic parts Stuff, like, project kits, specialty radios, scanners, CB and Amateur radio sets. Nowadays they are not selling any more of this, and become the business is otherwise as an over-priced Best Buy (and Walmart, in many cases). 95% of the stuff you can buy at Radio Shack to another larger big-box retailer (or online) for be purchased much cheaper. I was just looking for a 1982 Radio Shack catalog, my father found while cleaning out the basement last week. It's really sad when You now have all the good things they used to have, that they no longer think.
Radio Shack is kept alive by staying in front of the technological curve. You have still sell stereo equipment, cables, antennas and recmote-controlled cars, because there is always a market for it. They also sell plug adapters, printers, and materials on computers be used, because people can do that stuff. Radio Shack's niche is the domestic and foreign customers who are looking for something fast. When I need fifty feet of cable management, I went straight to Radio Shack, because I knew I pick it up again and coming home in 15 minutes, while at the big box stores I'd have to deal with crowds, Parking lots and long lines at the checkout stand to compete. As for the 1982 catalog, have a look, would you really use all that stuff today? If not, then the is why it is not for sale anymore.

Tucson: An Eye for an Eye Blinds All
“Too often we honor swagger and bluster and wielders of force; too often we excuse those who are willing to build their own lives on the shattered dreams of others. Some Americans who preach nonviolence abroad fail to practice it here at home.
