Switching from dish to antenna?

I want to switch my cable from a dish to an antenna. I know I don’t need a converter boxes because both of my tvs will convert on their own. Can I use the same coax cables from my dish to hook up to the antenna? We tried it but it didn’t work. What do we need to do to get it to work? There are so many coax cables! 2 from the dish, then they split all off in the basement to various areas.

We can't really answer that without seeing your setup.

You do need a coax which would run from your antenna to your TV and in my satellite setup I am able to combine both the satellite signal and the antenna signal on the same coax. But without knowing the EXACT details of your setup, no one here can answer.

You need to either just run a separate coax or get someone in to your house who can figure your setup out and give you advice. No one can do that remotely (even though some will give you BS answers).

Is my TV antenna connector compatible with my setup?

In my apartment I have an antenna hook up in the wall with two screws for two wires. I have a 75 ohm connector that converts the two wires into a coax connector. I have a RG-59 cable that connects the 75 ohm connector to the antenna input on my HDTV. There is no signal and I’m not sure why. Any help would be appreciated.

That’s the proper way to hook up that kind of set up. However the old two wire “twin lead” style hasn’t been widely used in about 35 years. My guess is that the antenna hooked to those terminals has either been removed or is in such disrepair that it doesn’t work well anymore. Check with your apartment manager.

Another thought, make sure your set is set for “antenna” or “terrestrial” and scan for channels again. If it is set for “cable” it will not catch all the Over The Air signals that may be available.
