Elementary school (3rd grade) Career Day presentation for telecommunications?
I work mostly point-to-point radios, but also the work on the DS-3 M / W radio down to POTS. I'm taking a ham radio, CW key (if I can find one), point-to-point radio, and thought maybe a small Yagi. Maybe a cell phone and Omni antenna. I will talk about how English and mathematics will help you to work in telecommunications. I have even praised a letter to the NYTimes May 2009 lack of mathematical skills in college students that I paraphrase. Any other ideas?
Nope, that should be a bit less than perfect for your child

aids, air traffic control and other uses. In common use among aviation

As a newbie to ham radio I have been reading recently about small qrp transceivers (Pixie-Micro 80- Tiny Tornado etc) but they seem outdated or obsolete. Is anyone still making these type of kits and which is the smallest and best one?
Ideally UK manufacturers but any country is fine.
I can put MFJ very high on my list of recommendations. Their equipment is reasonable, and reliable.
I’d also recommend the ARRL website, to which I will include a link. The books you can buy on all different aspects of Ham Radio will be very helpful to a “newbie”, and to an OT (licensed since 1968) like me, who needs to brush up once in a while.
MFJ is good for prices, and a variety of different things, so I’ll include a link to their website as well. I’m also going to pull up the Amateur Electronic Supply site for you. All of these companies can handle an overseas order if you need one.
It just dawned on me that you must be from the UK, so maybe the RGSB (I think that’s what it’s called) is more to your needs, but there’s stuff on the ARRL site that may be of use anyway.
