How I can start with amateur radio?

Hi, I had a great interest lately in amateur radio (HAM), and I would begin to get involved. In addition to licensing, what equipment is needed to transmit and receive? CB radio equipment would work, or does that work differently? Thank you for the feedback so far – this is my biggest picture yet, I am sending a balloon into the stratosphere and I'm thinking my options of communication to my 'team flight. Radio seems like the only option at this point. I need about 30 km range, and, obviously, will involve radio data that can encode the information and not just voice.

Although it may appear to be similar there is little in common with radio and amateur radio. Ham radio required to pass tests on radio and electronics theory to prove they have the knowledge and ability to operate in a proper way radios – CB no. Ham radio is not talking to people, this is the search for understanding and development of technology, CB is about chatting. This is the foundation of different radio services, and therefore is completely different types of people in ham radio in front of CB. If you want to abuse people and play music over of them, while they are trying to talk, to stay with CB. if a lay person and respectful of the mature who wants to investigate the theory behind electronics communication by radio, then ham radio can be for you. ''What equipment do I need to transmit and receive?''Do not worry so. License first, second radio. ! If you are interested in learning more about ham radio, feel free to send me an email.

Getting my General Class amateur radio license?

I am new to the world of digital modes in amateur radio in, and I'm getting my Tech and General License along in the next month. I wonder if anyone has a good mobile device for the frequency could be set to recommend sick. And why you recommend it.

A general license is you have some privileges everywhere. The Yaesu 857D and 897D have almost all the bands. 6M 2M 70cm .. HF on 10-160m. The Icom 706 has the same frequency range. Both have digital Signal processors. Both (or all 3) radios have good reviews. Welcome to the Hobby! You will love it. 73

Ham radio. Calling frequencies for band plan?

What is the difference between QRP frequncies call and call frequncies DX? I have a diamond the cp6 has very narrow bandwidth, so I choose the right center frequency to TUNE IT.

Daniel has a good answer. You might also want an e-ham reviews for the antenna to try to see what other people have done. I googled to see the antenna, what it was, and got several opinions from guys who have used the tuners with different Success. Are you using more than 5 watts, I would for some other part of the band as the QRP region. A 100-watt rig or more would be the explosion of QRP stations out of the water so to say, as Daniel mentioned. When is the narrow bandwidth of a case of vertical which can be improved with an auto tuner, it might be something to behold. I a 200-watt unit from MFJ, which was 250.00. It seems to work well with my random wire, but if you're going to go something like this, check the to see online manuals, if it will work with a vertical, not all of them. My HF rig is an Alinco DX-77, a 100-watt rig I consider myself a Hustler 6BTV who have a narrow bandwidth, especially on 80 and 40 meters. I've always preferred CW, but if I get to work the DX coming from Italy and Spain, which I would have neen on 40 SSB listening lately, the narrow bandwidth would be a disadvantage. I had a car for an antenna tuner like the one in his eye this fall. I the e-ham reviews for Diamond CP6 attached for you here. I logged off so I could be sure they would not join up first.
